Fun Comments: My earliest of memories as a
child started on Minnesota ice with my father,
and my uncle Danny, with a burnt maroon
colored, home built ice shanty. I remember
fishing Sarah, Minnetonka, Medicine, and
Mille Lacs.  I spent more time outside than
inside fishing as I recall.  When your four, I
guess you have the attention span of a gnat.

Growing up, ice fishing was a distant
memory.  Moving to Virginia, as a teenager
you can see why.  My adult life I would have a
love for racing pure stock dirt cars at local
short tracks and later road racing enduro
shifter karts capable of reaching 150mph at
top speed and racing at such tracks as
Daytona, Charlotte, Rockingham, and Virginia
International Raceway.  Here is where I
developed a determination to win, a
perfectionist way of paying attention to detail,
and a fierce competition side that grew
stronger every year in the sport.  I still enjoy
pounding around the race track, hoping I will
find more time in the coming year to do more
racing.

After my 25 year absence from Minnesota, I
decided to come back to where it all began, to
be closer to family, to start a new chapter in
life.  In 2007, I started back ice fishing, with
the same equipment my dad had purchased
back from the 1970's,  It was a very cold
winter, and I was not prepared, my father felt
bad that I was miserable out on the ice.  I did
not have any money because of the move
from out east, and my father once again
re-ignited the ice fishing bug, buying a power
auger, portable ice house, and all the
accessories to go with the package.  Wasn't
until 2010 fishing at Pelican lake, is when I
saw tournament fishing for the first time when
the NAIFC was hosting a event.  That next
year I fished that same tournament for the
first time and I have been hooked ever since.
Special thanks goes out to Pete Mlinar, Dave
Young and Michael Thompson, you guys
have really helped me cut down on the
learning curve associated with tournament
fishing, and I am grateful for your time.
